The Greater Noida Authority has initiated plans for a 3-kilometre road link aimed at improving connectivity between Greater Noida West and the upcoming Noida International Airport at Jewar. The new road will connect the existing 130-metre-wide road in Greater Noida with the 120-metre-wide Yamuna City Road, thereby closing a critical gap in the road network leading toward the airport corridor.

Currently, commuters from Greater Noida West, Noida Extension, and parts of Ghaziabad lack a direct route to access the Yamuna Expressway corridor toward Jewar. The proposed road will enable smoother vehicular movement from Char Murti Chowk to Sirsa village, from where travellers can directly reach the Yamuna City area and onward to the airport site.

Officials from the Greater Noida Authority have confirmed that a detailed project report (DPR) is under preparation and is expected to be finalised within the next two months. Preliminary site inspections have already been conducted to assess land availability, terrain, and integration with existing infrastructure.

The stretch of land proposed for the road alignment includes parcels that fall under the jurisdiction of the Uttar Pradesh Irrigation Department. Coordination is underway with the department to obtain necessary approvals. In addition, discussions are being held with the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (Yeida) to delineate responsibilities for construction, funding, and maintenance.

The missing link between Greater Noida and the Yamuna Expressway has long been viewed as an impediment to efficient travel for residents and businesses in the region. With the first phase of the Noida International Airport projected to become operational by the end of 2025, authorities have been directed to expedite roadworks that support last-mile connectivity.

To address traffic flow near the end of the 130-metre-wide road, the authority has also proposed constructing a rotary at the Ghangola roundabout. This intersection currently acts as a dead-end and requires reconfiguration to handle airport-bound traffic. Once completed, the rotary will facilitate the merging of traffic from multiple directions and improve route clarity for travellers heading toward the expressway.

In parallel, the authority is planning an underpass near Sirsa village to allow vehicles to pass beneath the Eastern Peripheral Expressway. This measure is expected to reduce bottlenecks and provide uninterrupted passage for airport-bound traffic from Greater Noida West and adjacent sectors.

Officials have indicated that the road project will not require significant private land acquisition, as the majority of the proposed alignment runs through government-owned land. This is likely to shorten project timelines and reduce procedural delays. However, formal inter-departmental approvals and budget clearances are still pending.

The funding structure of the project will be finalised following joint consultations between the Greater Noida Authority, Yeida, and other state-level agencies. The aim is to ensure that execution responsibilities and maintenance protocols are clearly defined before the project moves into the tendering phase.

In anticipation of the airport’s opening, the Greater Noida Authority has already started work on widening and resurfacing stretches of the 130-metre-wide road that feeds into the proposed link. This road is expected to serve as a key arterial route for both passenger and cargo traffic once the airport is operational.

The proposed infrastructure upgrade aligns with the broader regional mobility strategy designed to integrate the upcoming airport with key urban centres in western Uttar Pradesh. Connectivity enhancements in and around the airport are being treated as priority projects to support the anticipated surge in commuter and logistics movement post-2025.

The authority expects to finalise technical reports, departmental approvals, and land transfers in the coming weeks. If the timeline proceeds as scheduled, groundwork for the link road could begin within the current financial year.
