JSW Cement Launches First Production Unit in North India

JSW Cement, a leading cement manufacturer in India, has recently announced the establishment of its first production unit in Northern India, located in Nagaur, Rajasthan. With the new unit the company aims to expand its operations to serve customers in the northern region of the country.

Parth Jindal, the managing director of JSW Cement, expressed his pride in this development, stating that the company is embarking on a new journey to become a pan-India cement player by 2026. The inauguration ceremony for the new unit was held recently, with Jindal breaking ground at the Nagaur site.

Initially, the Nagaur unit will have a production capacity of 3.3 million tonnes per annum. However, JSW Cement plans to gradually scale up this capacity to 15 million tonnes over time. This expansion reflects the company's commitment to meeting the growing demand for cement in the region and serving its customers effectively.

As of September last year, JSW Cement had a total production capacity of 19 million tonnes per annum across its existing facilities in India. In addition to the Nagaur unit, the company aims to add 2 million tonnes of capacity during the current calendar year (2023). Looking ahead, JSW Cement has set a medium-term target of achieving a total capacity of 60 million tonnes within the next five years.

One of the key priorities for JSW Cement during this period of expansion is to implement measures to reduce its carbon emissions. As part of its sustainability efforts, the company plans to invest in various interventions aimed at minimizing its environmental impact. This aligns with global efforts to address climate change and promote eco-friendly manufacturing practices.

The decision to establish a production unit in Nagaur, Rajasthan, underscores JSW Cement's strategic vision to strengthen its presence across different regions of India. By diversifying its manufacturing footprint, the company aims to enhance its market reach and better serve the needs of its customers.
