Over 13,000 Real Estate Agents Deregistered in Maharashtra for License Non-Renewal

None

Maharashtra Real Estate Regulatory Authority (MahaRERA) has canceled the registration of 13,785 real estate agents across the state. The move came after these agents failed to renew their licenses, initially obtained in 2017, highlighting the authority's strict stance on compliance and professionalism in the real estate sector.

The names of the deregistered agents are now publicly listed on the MahaRERA website. This action mandates that the affected agents undergo specified training and secure a certification to regain their operational licenses. Without fulfilling these requirements, these individuals are barred from legally participating in the real estate market.

Mumbai and its suburbs have seen the highest number of deregistrations, with 6,291 agents affected. This is followed by Thane, with 3,075 agents, and Pune, with 2,349, demonstrating the broad impact of MahaRERA's decision across Maharashtra's prime real estate hubs.

Despite the mass deregistration, there's a silver lining as new agents are set to enter the field. Following the results of the latest examination for real estate agents, 1,527 out of 1,767 candidates have passed, translating to an 86.41% success rate. Notably, Mrs. Arohi Chirag Bhimajiani from Mumbai topped the exam with a perfect score, becoming the first candidate to achieve this milestone across the four sessions held to date.

The decision to deregister a significant number of agents sends a strong message about the importance of regulatory adherence and the pursuit of excellence within the Maharashtra real estate industry. For the affected agents, this development presents both a challenge and an opportunity to enhance their skills and compliance, ensuring better service quality and integrity in the real estate services sector in the state.
