Ludhiana Municipal Corporation Implements UID Property Plate System for Efficient Tax Collection
Ludhiana Municipal Corporation has started installing Unique Identification property plates across the city. This initiative aims to improve property tax collection, create accurate records, and reduce inconsistencies in ownership and taxation. All properties under municipal jurisdiction will be covered under this system, which is part of a broader move towards digital governance.
The purpose of this initiative is to build a structured property database that helps maintain organized records while minimizing errors in taxation and ownership disputes. Each property will receive a unique identification number linked to municipal records, making it easier to access and verify details.
The municipal corporation has assigned the project to a private firm responsible for surveying properties and installing the plates. Survey teams are identifying properties, collecting data, and verifying ownership before assigning unique numbers. Once verified, the UID plate is fixed to the property and integrated into the municipal database.
This initiative includes both residential and commercial properties. The process involves mapping properties with Geographic Information System technology to prevent duplication and improve accuracy. The collected data is linked to municipal records, allowing property owners to check and update their details online.
The project is expected to improve tax collection by identifying properties that are either under-assessed or missing from municipal records. This is likely to increase revenue and reduce tax evasion. It will also create a standardized database, ensuring fewer errors in ownership records.
