Brigade Citrine: India’s First Net-Zero Carbon Residential Project with ₹500 Crore Investment by Brigade Group

Brigade Group has launched Brigade Citrine, a residential development located at Budigere Cross, Whitefield, Bengaluru. This project is India’s first net-zero carbon residential development, highlighting Brigade Group’s commitment to sustainable urban living. The development covers 4.3 acres and consists of 420 homes, available in 1, 2, 3, and 4 BHK configurations. The estimated gross development value (GDV) of the project is ₹500 crores.

The RERA number for the Brigade Citrine project is PRM/KA/RERA/1250/304/PR/131224/007287.

The design of Brigade Citrine incorporates several strategies aimed at achieving the goal of net-zero carbon. The project focuses on using materials that minimize the environmental impact, energy-efficient designs, and water conservation measures. It includes the use of renewable energy for powering all common area lighting, which helps reduce dependence on non-renewable energy sources. 

Additionally, the project is projected to save approximately 8,900 tankers of water annually through various water conservation efforts, which will significantly contribute to lowering the community’s overall environmental footprint.

Brigade Citrine is part of Brigade Group’s broader long-term goal to achieve net-zero emissions by 2045. Pavitra Shankar, Managing Director of Brigade Enterprises Ltd., emphasizes the importance of mitigation, reuse, and offsetting in reducing the environmental impact of the project over the next 25 years. The design also aims to achieve reductions in operational and embodied carbon, with a target of reducing embodied carbon by up to 40%. Brigade Group’s continued focus on sustainability is demonstrated in the 14.8 million square feet of green building certifications currently in progress across various stages of development.
