Brigade Citrine: India’s First Net-Zero Carbon Residential Project with ₹500 Crore Investment by Brigade Group
Brigade Group has launched Brigade Citrine, a residential development located at Budigere Cross, Whitefield, Bengaluru. This project is India’s first net-zero carbon residential development, highlighting Brigade Group’s commitment to sustainable urban living. The development covers 4.3 acres and consists of 420 homes, available in 1, 2, 3, and 4 BHK configurations. The estimated gross development value (GDV) of the project is ₹500 crores.
The RERA number for the Brigade Citrine project is PRM/KA/RERA/1250/304/PR/131224/007287.
The design of Brigade Citrine incorporates several strategies aimed at achieving the goal of net-zero carbon. The project focuses on using materials that minimize the environmental impact, energy-efficient designs, and water conservation measures. It includes the use of renewable energy for powering all common area lighting, which helps reduce dependence on non-renewable energy sources.
Additionally, the project is projected to save approximately 8,900 tankers of water annually through various water conservation efforts, which will significantly contribute to lowering the community’s overall environmental footprint.
Brigade Citrine is part of Brigade Group’s broader long-term goal to achieve net-zero emissions by 2045. Pavitra Shankar, Managing Director of Brigade Enterprises Ltd., emphasizes the importance of mitigation, reuse, and offsetting in reducing the environmental impact of the project over the next 25 years. The design also aims to achieve reductions in operational and embodied carbon, with a target of reducing embodied carbon by up to 40%. Brigade Group’s continued focus on sustainability is demonstrated in the 14.8 million square feet of green building certifications currently in progress across various stages of development.
This project is a reflection of Brigade Group’s commitment to sustainable practices in all its developments. All new residential units by Brigade are IGBC-certified, which signifies adherence to green building standards. This focus on sustainability is present at every stage of the project, from site selection and design to construction and operations, ensuring that the environmental impact is minimized throughout the development process.
The layout of Brigade Citrine has been carefully designed with the needs of residents in mind, while also minimizing the impact on the environment. The design ensures a good amount of open spaces, along with a variety of indoor and outdoor amenities that cater to different lifestyles.
The low-density design of the project provides a balance between built-up areas and open spaces, which enhances the living environment for residents. This approach aims to create a comfortable and sustainable community for future homeowners.
Brigade Citrine sets a new standard for sustainable residential developments in India. By incorporating environmental practices into the design and construction, Brigade Group aims to meet the increasing demand for housing while reducing its environmental impact. This project highlights the group’s commitment to sustainability, positioning it as a key player in promoting responsible living in urban areas. Through these efforts, Brigade Group seeks to address the nation’s housing needs while minimizing the environmental effects of urban growth.
This approach aligns with the broader goals of creating sustainable urban spaces that serve future generations, with an emphasis on both meeting housing demands and protecting the environment. Brigade Citrine, with its net-zero carbon target, offers a model for how future developments can prioritize sustainability in response to India’s growing urban population.
