Zepto to Relocate Headquarters to Total Mall in Sarjapur, Bengaluru: Report

Zepto, the quick commerce platform, is relocating its headquarters from Mumbai to Bengaluru, with the new office set to be at Market Square Mall, formerly known as Total Mall, in Sarjapur. Originally scheduled for November, the move has been delayed to February due to challenges in securing a suitable location. In the meantime, some staff will begin operating from a temporary Bengaluru office starting November 11.

Zepto initially asked its 1,700-1,800 employees to move from its Powai headquarters in Mumbai to Bengaluru. Currently around 1,000 employees are based in Mumbai, 400 in Bengaluru and 300 in various cities for operations. Approximately 90% of Mumbai-based employees are prepared to relocate, while ongoing discussions are taking place with the rest. Only about 5-7% may not be able to make the move.

Impact of the Relocation

This shift will bring Zepto’s business divisions from Mumbai under one roof with its tech and product teams already operating in Bengaluru, consolidating the company’s workforce. The relocation is estimated to cost Rs 3-4 crore but Zepto is expected to save Rs 40-50 lakh monthly due to lower office rentals in Bengaluru compared to Mumbai. 

Location Benefits

Zepto's new Sarjapur location places it in close proximity to major competitors like Swiggy and Flipkart, which could be beneficial for talent acquisition and industry collaboration. Additionally, the company plans to hire 500 more employees, increasing its corporate workforce to around 2,200-2,300 staff members according to co-founder and CEO Aadit Palicha.
