Following the 2024 firing incident outside Galaxy Apartments, where two bike-borne men allegedly linked to the Bishnoi gang opened fire, Bollywood superstar Salman Khan is set to move into a new sea-facing residence in Mumbai's Bandra. The building will be constructed in a plot is located just near the Galaxy Apartments where the family of Salman Khan resides since 1974.
This move to construct a new house comes after the frightening shooting episode that took place in April 2024 when two bikers who were members of the Bishnoi gang shot several rounds outside the gates of Galaxy Apartments. Post the shooting, the house was upgraded in terms of security with bulletproof glass being fixed on the balcony from where Salman used to greet his fans on Eid and birthdays. The actor has also been provided Y+ security due to threats.
As per documents released by the Maharashtra Coastal Zone Management Authority (MCZMA), the new house will be built on a plot located in a secluded street near the main road in Bandra. The plot of land belongs to the mother of Salman Khan, Salma Khan.
As per MCZMA, the plot earlier contained a two-storey residential building that existed even before 1956. Owned first by Mary Clotilda Baptista, the plot witnessed a number of ownerships before it ended up with the Khan family in 2011, when the deteriorated building was demolished.
According to the sanctioned scheme, a ground plus stilt plus six storey residential building is to be constructed based on Regulation 33(16) of the Development Control and Promotion Regulations (DCPR) 2034. The building will use an FSI of 1.459 and it had already obtained an Intimation of Disapproval (IOD) from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on October 28, 2025. Sach Developers is the company that will construct the building which will have a built-up area of 1,014.11 sq. m.
The proposed residential building will also have a road of 6.01 metres that will provide access to it from the municipal road. The project already had an IOD clearance from BMC as of October 2025. The construction work will be done by Sach Developers.
It has also been designed keeping in view the environmental aspect of it. According to the project documentation provided to authority, there would not be any removal or relocation of the trees that exist already. Rather, the plan is to grow local trees in and around the compound and in the recreational area so that they can contribute to the aesthetics of the surroundings.
The Galaxy Apartments has been one of the landmarks in Mumbai for many years and the place where the fans of the actor come from different parts of India in order to see him. But due to certain security reasons, this location became quite difficult for meeting purposes and therefore, a new home is being built on a much quieter street.
