Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) Offers 10% Rebate On Property Tax Payments Until June 30th

The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has rolled out an enticing incentive for property owners in the capital city, announcing a 10% rebate on property tax payments made before June 30th, 2024. This initiative, applicable for the financial year 2024-25, aims to prompt early settlements and streamline revenue collection efforts.

To facilitate hassle-free transactions, the MCD has extended the operational hours of its assessment and collection department, including Saturdays until the deadline. Moreover, the corporation offers multiple payment channels such as UPI, digital wallets, demand drafts, and online payment gateways, ensuring convenience for taxpayers across Delhi.

Property owners can conveniently access their tax details and process payments via the official MCD website. Additionally, the MCD encourages property owners to geo-tag their properties, a process already completed by 30% of taxpayers, enhancing administrative efficiency and service delivery.

Recognizing the importance of community engagement, the MCD has collaborated with Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs) and market associations to set up more than 800 camps throughout Delhi. These initiatives have successfully assisted over 24,000 taxpayers in fulfilling their property tax obligations during the current fiscal year.

In a proactive move, the MCD has dispatched advance bills to approximately 8.7 lakh taxpayers who promptly settled their dues in the previous financial year. These bills include estimates for the current year's property tax obligations, ensuring transparency and facilitating early planning for taxpayers.

The MCD's fiscal performance in the preceding financial year revealed a decline in property tax collection, amounting to Rs 2,137 crore compared to Rs 2,417 crore collected in the previous year. The reduction is partly attributed to the absence of the Samriddhi scheme, which contributed an additional Rs 400 crore to revenues during FY 2022-23. Despite this decline, the MCD remains optimistic about achieving robust revenue figures through proactive measures and strategic initiatives.

Emphasizing the significance of timely payments, the MCD underscores their role in supporting essential civic services and infrastructure development across Delhi. By availing the 10% rebate offer before June 30th, property owners contribute directly to the city's progress and maintenance efforts.
