IMC Demolishes 63 Structures for Tigaria Badshah Road Widening
In a decisive action, the Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) successfully demolished 63 illegal structures, clearing significant obstacles to the widening of a key road in Tigaria Badshah. This marked a critical step in the IMC’s ongoing efforts to expand the road to 30 meters, a project aimed at enhancing traffic flow and improving connectivity across the region.
The IMC had given residents ample time to clear their unauthorized constructions after issuing notices a week earlier, asking them to voluntarily remove the illegal extensions. These extensions, ranging from 1 to 25 feet beyond the approved building limits, had encroached upon the land needed for the road-widening project. While some residents complied with the notice and removed the structures themselves, others did not take any action, prompting the IMC to step in.
On the morning of the demolition, a team of over 200 municipal employees, supported by bulldozers and excavators, along with a substantial police presence, arrived in Tigaria Badshah. The operation, which was carried out without any resistance, cleared the way for the road-widening project to proceed. A carefully coordinated effort ensured that the belongings of the affected residents were safely removed before the demolition began.
Deputy Commissioner Lata Agarwal confirmed that the encroachments were a major barrier to the road-widening project, and the IMC had made every effort to ensure that residents had enough time to clear the illegal portions. The IMC had not only sent notices but also made public announcements over the past three days to inform the residents about the planned operation. Most houses were vacated in advance, allowing the demolition to proceed smoothly.
The demolition operation was carried out along a stretch of the Tigaria Badshah road, from Scheme No. 155 to Khade Ganpati. While the residents were initially reluctant, the IMC’s effective communication strategy and the visible presence of the police ensured that there were no disputes or disruptions during the process.
The road-widening project is part of a broader effort to improve infrastructure in the area. With the removal of these illegal structures, the IMC is now one step closer to achieving its goal of expanding the road, which is expected to ease traffic congestion and support the growing demands of the city’s transportation network.
