Construction of Tidel Parks in Madurai and Trichy Set to Begin After Environmental Clearance
The Tamil Nadu State Environment Impact Assessment Authority (SEIAA) has granted environmental clearance for the construction of Tidel parks in Madurai and Trichy. This approval is a significant step for the development of these two projects, which are aimed at boosting the information technology (IT) and IT-enabled services (ITES) sectors in the region.
The Tidel park in Madurai will be located near the Mattuthavani bus stand on a 9.97-acre site. The total built-up area for this project will be 5.67 lakh square feet, with a total cost of ₹289 crore. The park will have a ground floor and 12 additional floors, which will be equipped to accommodate IT and ITES companies. The park will offer workspaces, internet connectivity, conference rooms, incubation centers, and recreational spaces. It is expected to create about 5,500 direct jobs once it becomes operational, which will contribute to the economic growth of Madurai.
Similarly, the Tidel park in Trichy will be located near the integrated bus terminus at Panjappur, along the Trichy-Madurai National Highway. The site will cover 11 acres, with a built-up area of 5.5 lakh square feet. This project is estimated to cost ₹290 crore. Like the Madurai park, it will provide the necessary infrastructure for IT and ITES companies, with the expectation of generating around 5,000 jobs. This will further strengthen Trichy’s position as an emerging industrial hub.
Both projects are being led by Tidel Park Limited, a government initiative from Tamil Nadu. The proposals for these developments were submitted in December 2024. After reviewing the plans, SEIAA granted the required environmental clearance. This approval ensures that the projects can move forward to the next stages of development.
Construction for both parks is expected to begin within two months. The foundation stones for the parks will be laid within a month, with Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin anticipated attending the ceremony. Once construction begins, the focus will shift to completing the projects as per schedule.
These projects are set to significantly impact the state’s economy by improving infrastructure and creating job opportunities. With a focus on supporting the IT and ITES industries, the Tidel parks will play a key role in enhancing Tamil Nadu's standing as a leading hub for technology and business services.
The environmental clearance marks a crucial step toward making these developments a reality, and officials are now preparing for the next stages of construction. The Tidel park projects, once complete, will help drive economic growth and provide modern facilities for businesses in the region
