Adani Foundation Contributes Rs 100 Crore to Establish Young India Skills University in Telangana
In a significant step towards enhancing the educational infrastructure in Telangana, the Adani Foundation, the corporate social responsibility arm of the Adani Group, has contributed Rs 100 crore to the state government for the establishment of the Young India Skills University (YISU). This initiative aims to provide industry-specific skill development opportunities for the youth of the region.
The contribution was formalized during a meeting between Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani and Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy in Hyderabad on Friday. The cheque was personally handed over by Mr. Adani to the Chief Minister, underscoring the Adani Group's commitment to contributing to youth empowerment and skills development. The Chief Minister's Office, in a post on the social media platform X, acknowledged the gesture, expressing gratitude for the financial support and emphasizing the importance of such partnerships for the state’s development.
According to the official communication from the Chief Minister’s Office, Gautam Adani reaffirmed the group's ongoing commitment to supporting Telangana's efforts in empowering the youth and enhancing their skills. He highlighted the strategic importance of initiatives like YISU in bridging the gap between the educational curriculum and industry needs, thus preparing students for the evolving job market.
YISU has been established under the Young India Skills University, Telangana (Public-Private Partnership) Act, 2024, as a part of the state’s strategy to address the increasing demand for skilled labor across industries. With a focus on collaboration between the government and industry leaders, YISU operates on a public-private partnership (PPP) model. This model ensures that the curriculum offered at the university is aligned with real-world demands, providing students with practical skills that will be immediately relevant in their future careers.
The PPP model is designed to enhance the quality of education by incorporating industry input into academic programs. The university is expected to play a pivotal role in transforming the educational landscape in Telangana by offering specialized training that meets the specific needs of different sectors. It aims to close the skills gap in the workforce, ensuring that students are not only academically proficient but also equipped with the hands-on experience needed in today’s competitive environment.
This initiative by the Adani Group marks a significant development in the advancement of higher education in Telangana. The collaboration between the government and private entities like Adani is expected to pave the way for similar partnerships in the future, ensuring that educational institutions in the state remain at the forefront of innovation and progress.
The Adani Group, through the Adani Foundation, has been actively involved in a wide range of corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives across India. The foundation focuses on several key areas, including education, healthcare, sustainable livelihoods, and rural infrastructure development. The contribution to YISU is part of the Adani Group’s broader mission to contribute to national development by supporting projects that have a long-term impact on society.
The contribution for the establishment of YISU reflects the group’s emphasis on education and skill development as crucial components of its CSR strategy. By investing in institutions like YISU, the Adani Foundation is helping to create an ecosystem where young people can gain the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in the workforce.
As Telangana continues to emerge as a hub for education and industry, the establishment of YISU will likely play a critical role in shaping the future of the state’s workforce. With the backing of major industrial players like the Adani Group, the university is poised to become a center of excellence for skill development in South India.
