Shah Rukh Khan and Family to Move Out of Mannat as Renovation Begins, Rents Pali Hill Apartment for ₹24 Lakh

Shah Rukh Khan and his family will temporarily move out of their residence, Mannat, as the property undergoes renovation and expansion. The actor, along with Gauri Khan and their children, Aryan Khan, Suhana Khan, and AbRam Khan, will relocate to a luxury apartment in Mumbai’s Pali Hill area for nearly two years. The decision comes as the annexed portion of Mannat is set to undergo major structural renovation work, requiring the family to move during the construction process.

As per Hindustan Times, Shah Rukh Khan’s production company, Red Chillies Entertainment, signed a lease agreement for the new apartment, securing the property for ₹24 lakh per month. The rented property consists of four floors, with each floor housing a separate flat. The arrangement ensures sufficient space for the family, security personnel, and household staff. The property belongs to film producer Vashu Bhagnani and is co-owned by his children, Jackky Bhagnani and Deepshika Deshmukh, under the name Puja Casa. Shah Rukh Khan has leased two duplex apartments located on the first, second, seventh, and eighth floors of the building.

In November 2024, Gauri Khan sought approval from the Maharashtra Coastal Zone Management Authority (MCZMA) to add two additional floors to the Mannat annexe. The planned expansion is expected to take nearly two years. Over the years, Mannat has undergone several modifications, with Gauri Khan overseeing its design and decor. This upcoming renovation is among the most significant, requiring structural changes that make it necessary for the family to move out temporarily.

Shah Rukh Khan purchased Mannat in 2001 for approximately ₹13 crore. The heritage bungalow, located in Mumbai’s Bandstand area of Bandra, has become a well-known landmark. Spanning 27,000 square feet, the six-story sea-facing property includes large living areas, an extensive library, a gym, a private theatre, and a terrace. The actor’s office, which manages Red Chillies Entertainment, is also situated within Mannat. Since its purchase, the property’s value has increased significantly, with estimates now placing it at around ₹200 crore. Fans regularly gather outside the bungalow, making it one of the most recognized celebrity residences in India.

While the family will stay in Pali Hill during the renovation, Mannat remains their primary residence. Once the expansion work is completed, they are expected to return. The relocation ensures that the construction process can proceed without disruptions while maintaining the family’s comfort and privacy. The move also allows Gauri Khan to oversee the renovation work without the daily routine of the household being affected.

The decision to move is temporary, and the family’s focus remains on maintaining their home while ensuring it meets their evolving needs. The extension will add more functional space, and with Shah Rukh Khan’s ongoing film projects and Gauri Khan’s involvement in design, Mannat’s transformation is expected to align with their professional and personal requirements. The shift to Pali Hill provides an interim solution that accommodates their needs while allowing the renovation to proceed as planned.
