Over 400 Women Apply for Property Ownership in Delhi Under PM-UDAY

On the occasion of International Women's Day, more than 400 women in Delhi applied for property ownership rights under the PM-UDAY scheme. The applications were submitted across 10 camps organized in various parts of the city, aiming to grant ownership rights in unauthorized colonies. According to the Lieutenant Governor’s office, out of the 432 applications received, 285 cases were successfully processed, and 101 women were handed over their ownership documents.

PM-UDAY (Prime Minister Unauthorized Colonies in Delhi Awas Adhikar Yojana) is an initiative designed to provide legal ownership rights to residents of 1,731 notified unauthorized colonies in the national capital. This scheme enables homeowners to officially register their properties, granting them legal status and financial security.

As per the National Capital Territory of Delhi (Recognition of Property Rights of Residents in Unauthorized Colonies) Regulations, 2019, residents who receive ownership rights can freely sell, purchase, and modify their properties without legal barriers. Additionally, banks and financial institutions recognize these properties as assets, making it easier for residents to avail of loans.

The initiative has significantly benefited residents, especially women, by providing them with property security and financial stability. Officials have also confirmed that residents can apply for approvals to modify their existing structures, further enhancing their living conditions.

The increasing participation in the PM-UDAY scheme reflects a growing awareness among Delhi’s residents regarding property rights. The government continues to push for the regularization of unauthorized colonies, ensuring that more citizens gain legal ownership of their homes. With the success of the recent camp, authorities plan to conduct more outreach programs to facilitate seamless property registrations and increase awareness about the scheme's benefits.
