Olympic Sports Park Planned Near Jewar Airport, 226 Villages to Be Acquired
The Uttar Pradesh government is set to develop an Olympic Sports Park near Noida's Jewar airport. The park will be located in sectors 22F and 23B of the Yamuna region, covering 52.4 hectares. This project aims to provide a venue for international sports events, including Olympic competitions, while supporting the region's infrastructure growth.
As part of the development, the government plans to acquire land from 226 villages to make way for the Olympic Sports Park. This move is expected to result in a major shift in the landscape of the region, marking a significant milestone in Uttar Pradesh’s commitment to infrastructure and sports development. The acquisition will pave the way for the creation of not only sports facilities but also residential units to accommodate athletes, officials, and other participants.
One of the key features of the Olympic Sports Park will be an Olympic Village, which will include 5,000 residential flats. These flats will be designed in various configurations, including 1BHK, 2BHK, and 3BHK units, ensuring that the needs of different individuals are met. The Olympic Village will serve as the accommodation hub for athletes and other participants during international events, adding another layer of convenience to the world-class sports infrastructure.
The Uttar Pradesh government’s decision to proceed with this ambitious project follows the approval of the Yamuna Authority’s (YEIDA) Master Plan 2041. This plan aims to make the region an integrated part of the state’s broader development strategy, which includes enhancing road infrastructure, transportation systems, and urban development projects. In line with this vision, the Olympic Sports Park is set to further strengthen the region’s appeal as an investment and tourism destination.
The development of the park is also part of a larger push to make Gautam Buddha Nagar a leading hub for infrastructure and sports development in India. The region has already seen major strides in urbanization, with the establishment of a new township, the construction of a rapid metro system, and the upcoming world-class Jewar airport. The addition of the Olympic Sports Park will only enhance the region's reputation and make it a key player in the global sports arena.
While the project is expected to bring long-term benefits, it will also bring challenges, especially concerning the land acquisition process. The affected villages will need to be compensated, and the government will need to manage the displacement of residents and the construction of new infrastructure carefully. However, the potential benefits for the region’s economy and global standing in the sports arena make this project a significant step forward.
