Brigade Group to Develop Third World Trade Center Tower in Kochi
Bengaluru-headquartered real estate major Brigade Group has signed a land lease agreement to develop a third tower of the World Trade Center (WTC) at Infopark Kochi. The new tower will be 16 storeys high, including a car park with six decks, and will have a total built-up area of 2.6 lakh square feet. The 150-crore project will be developed on a non-SEZ plot and is expected to conclude in a three-year timeframe.
M R Jaishankar, Executive Chairman of Brigade Group, mentioned that the company already has two WTC towers completed with a combined built-up area of 7.7 lakh square feet, and the office spaces are fully occupied. He emphasized the company's eagerness to expand in Kerala and to continue seeking viable land parcels. "The successful occupancy of our existing WTC towers demonstrates the strong demand for premium office spaces in the region. We are confident that the third tower will meet this growing demand and further enhance our presence in Kochi," he said.
Brigade has also developed the luxury business hotel Four Points by Sheraton Kochi Infopark, located in Phase 1 of the campus. The hotel, which caters to business travelers and IT professionals, has become a landmark in the area. Currently, the company is developing Brigade Square in Trivandrum, a Grade A office building in Technopark Phase 1. This project is part of Brigade's broader strategy to expand its footprint in key South Indian cities and cater to the burgeoning IT and business sectors.
The land lease agreement was signed in the presence of several state government dignitaries, including Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. C.M. Vijayan highlighted that 583 new companies have set up offices in Infopark since 2016, generating 70,000 jobs. He added that the new WTC tower will enhance the development of Infopark and the entire IT sector in the state. "This new development is a testament to Kerala's growing reputation as a hub for technology and innovation. We are committed to supporting such initiatives that drive economic growth and create job opportunities," he remarked.
Brigade Group holds licences for six World Trade Centers across South India, including locations in Bengaluru, Chennai, Kochi, Hyderabad, Trivandrum, and Devanahalli. Over the past 38 years, the company has completed approximately 300 buildings, covering 90 million square feet across a diverse portfolio. These projects range from residential complexes to commercial spaces and hospitality ventures. The group's commitment to quality and innovation has earned it a reputation as one of India's leading real estate developers.
The development of the third WTC tower in Kochi is expected to attract a range of businesses, from multinational corporations to startups, seeking state-of-the-art facilities and a strategic location. With its comprehensive amenities and prime positioning within Infopark, the new tower is set to become a significant addition to Kerala's commercial real estate landscape. This project not only underscores Brigade's growth ambitions but also reflects the dynamic economic environment of the region.
