4,165 Candidates Successfully Pass Real Estate Agents Exam, MahaRERA Declares
The Maharashtra Real Estate Regulatory Authority (MahaRERA) has announced the results of the 5th edition of the Real Estate Agents examination, with an impressive pass percentage of 87%. Out of the 4,769 candidates who took the exam, 4,165 successfully cleared it, marking a significant milestone in the state's real estate sector.
Exam Success and Trends
The latest examination saw 3,553 male candidates and 612 female candidates pass. Additionally, among the successful candidates, 196 are senior citizens, including 12 women. This diverse group of qualified agents underscores the inclusive nature of the real estate sector in Maharashtra.
Historically, the passing percentages for the previous four exams were 96% for the first, 93% for the second, 89% for the third, and 86% for the fourth. The consistent high pass rates reflect the effectiveness of the training and certification processes mandated by MahaRERA.
Top Performers and Cumulative Success
Sharad Mota from Mumbai and Divyesh Maheshwari from Pune emerged as top performers in the latest examination, both achieving a perfect score of 100%. Their achievement highlights the high level of competence and preparedness among the candidates.
With the latest batch, the total number of MahaRERA certified real estate agents in Maharashtra has reached 13,370. This figure includes 405 agents from the first examination, 2,812 from the second, 4,461 from the third, and 1,527 from the fourth edition. The cumulative success across these exams reflects the growing professionalism and regulatory compliance within the real estate sector.
Mandatory Certification and Training
Since January 10, 2023, MahaRERA has made it mandatory for both new real estate agents and those seeking renewals to undergo training and obtain certification. This initiative aims to enhance the quality of service in the real estate market and ensure that agents are well-equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills.
Maharashtra currently has approximately 47,000 registered real estate agents. However, registrations of 13,785 agents were cancelled due to non-renewal, and by the end of April, over 20,000 agents faced suspension for failing to meet the mandatory training and certification requirements by December 31. These agents are now prohibited from conducting transactions until they fulfill the specified conditions, reinforcing the importance of compliance in the sector.
Regulatory Impact and Future Prospects
MahaRERA’s stringent measures and mandatory certification processes are expected to bring more transparency and professionalism to the real estate industry. The high pass rates and increasing number of certified agents indicate a positive trend towards better-regulated real estate transactions in Maharashtra.
This regulatory framework not only benefits consumers by ensuring they engage with knowledgeable and certified agents but also elevates the overall standards of the real estate profession. As more agents comply with these requirements, the sector is likely to see enhanced trust and reliability.
