Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has directed officials to expedite the construction of the greenfield capital city, Amaravati, and ensure that all projects are completed within the stipulated timelines.
Reviewing the progress of ongoing works at his camp office in Amaravati, the chief minister took stock of infrastructure construction, beautification activities, and the distribution of returnable plots to farmers who had contributed land for the capital through the land pooling scheme. “There should be no delay in the construction work of the capital. Constructions should be completed by the targeted time,” CM Naidu said, according to an official release.
Review meeting on progress and manpower
During the review meeting, Naidu enquired about the status of key buildings, the availability of workforce, and the extent of progress achieved by the construction companies involved in securing materials and machinery for the project. He also acknowledged the slowdown in work due to recent rains but urged departments and contractors to make up for the lost time by accelerating operations in the coming weeks.
To avoid disruptions, CM Naidu directed officials to ensure uninterrupted gravel supply by coordinating closely with the Mines Department. The chief minister also called for efficient manpower deployment and continuous machinery operation to maintain project momentum.
CM Naidu underlined that speed must not come at the cost of quality, adding that he would personally review the progress of Amaravati’s works every 15 days to ensure adherence to standards and deadlines. “Along with speed, quality must also be maintained,” he said, emphasizing the need for strict supervision of civil works, materials, and finishing standards. The chief minister urged officials to ensure that the city’s infrastructure — including roads, government offices, and public amenities — aligns with the vision of a world-class, sustainable capital.
Highlighting the contribution of land pooling farmers, Naidu reiterated that those who gave their land for the capital’s development should not face any hurdles in receiving their returnable plots. Officials informed him that registrations for 2,471 farmers were still pending. Naidu assured that he would meet the farmers personally soon and that their issues would be addressed at the highest level.
“Farmers are the backbone of Amaravati’s development. Their sacrifices should be honored with complete transparency and timely action,” the Chief Minister said.
He also instructed departments to give equal importance to greenery, beautification, and cleanliness, alongside civil construction. He said that landscaping and environmental sustainability should remain central to Amaravati’s urban planning. “It is necessary to have high-rise buildings in Amaravati to give it a world-class city look,” he added, underscoring the state’s ambition to make the new capital a modern, global-standard urban center.
With Naidu’s renewed administrative push, the Andhra Pradesh government aims to revitalize Amaravati’s development, ensuring that long-delayed projects are completed on schedule and the city emerges as a symbol of planned urban growth and administrative excellence.
