SIAM Cement BigBloc Launches India's First AAC Wall Plant in Kheda, Gujarat

SIAM Cement BigBloc Construction Technologies Pvt Ltd, a joint venture between Gujarat based BigBloc Construction Ltd and Thailand's SCG International Corporation Co., Ltd, (SCG International) has initiated its India operations with the commencement of commercial production at its first plant in Kheda, Gujarat. 

This venture marks a significant investment of approximately Rs 65 crore towards establishing a 2.5 lakh cubic meter per annum capacity project, including the inauguration of India's inaugural AAC Wall Plant in the Kheda district near Ahmedabad, Gujarat. The AAC Wall products will be marketed under the brand name 'ZMARTBUILD WALL by NXTBLOC', with the joint venture also venturing into the manufacturing of AAC Blocks.

The plant's inauguration took place in the presence of Pattarat Hongtong, The Ambassador of Thailand to India, Balvantsinh Rajput, Minister Industries, MSME, Government of Gujarat, and other senior officials from SCG International and BigBloc Construction on June 10, 2024. 

BigBloc Construction's strategic Joint Venture with SCG International aims to establish a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility for AAC Walls and AAC Blocks in Kheda District, Gujarat. BigBloc Construction holds a majority stake of 52% in the joint venture, with SCG International holding the remaining 48%. Notably, this marks SCG Group's maiden investment in India.

Naresh Saboo, Managing Director of BigBloc Construction Ltd, expressed the significance of the joint venture beyond mere business collaboration, emphasizing its role in fostering ties between nations and cultures. Construction at the plant commenced in September 2023, with production starting within a year, showcasing a remarkable feat in India's AAC industry. Saboo highlighted the future trajectory of the venture, indicating the potential expansion of the project to 5 lakh cubic meters per year in its second phase.

The joint venture's plant in Kheda, Gujarat, will introduce India's maiden AAC Wall Plant, offering a wide range of large-format AAC Wall products tailored for the Indian market. The plant is anticipated to create 250 employment opportunities and is projected to generate revenues of around Rs 100 crore per annum at full capacity. Additionally, the joint venture aims to facilitate the exchange of techno-commercial knowledge, promote mutual growth and cooperation in the construction industry, and introduce new-age building materials to Indian markets.

Abhijit Datta, Head of International Business and Managing Director of SCG International, highlighted the synergy between SCG's expertise and advanced technologies with BigBloc's local market understanding, aiming to deliver cost-efficient and sustainable construction solutions. The collaboration introduced 'ZMARTBUILD WALL by NXTBLOC', representing a new standard in walling solutions, with a broader vision of redefining India's construction landscape.
