The Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) is set to reopen registrations for its Anantnagar Housing Scheme on Mohan Road this Diwali, offering nearly 500 residential plots. The decision comes in response to the overwhelming demand witnessed in the first two rounds of the scheme, during which around 700 plots were successfully allotted.
The Anantnagar project, spread across 785 acres, is among the largest housing developments planned by the LDA. Designed to accommodate about 1.5 lakh residents, it features a modern grid layout with wide roads, underground cabling, and upgraded urban infrastructure built to international standards. The layout also includes provisions for parks, community spaces, and an Education City spread over approximately 100 acres.
According to LDA officials, the plot prices will remain unchanged at ₹41,150 per square metre. The authority will accept online applications, and allotments will be made through a transparent lottery system. The available plot sizes range from 450 sq m to 112.5 sq m, catering to diverse residential needs.
In a parallel development, the Uttar Pradesh government has approved ₹750 crore in funding for two new LDA housing projects, Varun Vihar and Naimish Nagar. The state finance department has already initiated the transfer of sanctioned funds to the LDA to facilitate the commencement of these projects.
Varun Vihar, proposed to be developed over approximately 6,580 acres on Mohan Road, will be one of the largest planned townships in Lucknow. Meanwhile, Naimish Nagar, located in Bakshi Ka Talab, will span around 3,670 acres. Both projects will include a mix of residential plots, flats, commercial spaces, and green landscaped zones aimed at promoting sustainable urban living.
Officials said that with these initiatives, the government aims to expand affordable housing supply and create self-contained residential hubs equipped with essential amenities. The projects are part of a broader push by the UP government to strengthen planned urban development and ensure better infrastructure across the state capital.
