The National Association of Realtors-India (NAR-India) has announced the renewal of its engagement with MagicBricks Realty Services, following a dispute earlier this year over marketing content perceived as disrespectful by the brokers’ body.
In May 2025, NAR-India had instructed its members to halt all listings, advertisements, and business transactions with MagicBricks. The directive came in response to campaign videos published by the online real estate portal, which were deemed to undermine the professional standing of real estate brokers while commercially exploiting the ecosystem.
At the time, NAR-India stated that the campaigns crossed a line by projecting narratives that misrepresented brokers, marginalised their contributions, and adversely impacted the brokerage community. The association maintained that engagement with MagicBricks should remain suspended until the portal issued a formal apology and a written commitment to uphold professional standards.
Since then, MagicBricks took corrective measures, including the removal of the objectionable campaign content. The portal also reaffirmed its commitment to respecting the dignity and professionalism of the realtor community. Following these steps, both parties engaged in dialogue, culminating in a joint statement issued on Saturday confirming the resolution of differences.
“MagicBricks and NAR-India have resolved earlier differences and are aligned in their commitment to ethical practices, accountability, and long-term development of the industry,” the statement said. NAR-India members who had supported the boycott campaign will now withdraw their previous actions and acknowledge MagicBricks’ contributions to the realtor ecosystem.
Industry experts note that such disputes highlight the increasing scrutiny and expectations around ethical marketing in the real estate sector. Digital platforms, while providing wide reach and consumer engagement, must balance promotional campaigns with sensitivity to the professional communities that form the backbone of property transactions.
MagicBricks, one of India’s leading online property portals, has been instrumental in enabling real estate brokers to connect with potential buyers, list properties, and manage transactions efficiently. NAR-India represents a broad network of RERA-registered and approved brokers nationwide, advocating for professional standards, transparent practices, and the collective interests of the brokerage community.
The resolution is expected to restore collaborative interactions between brokers and the portal, enabling continued access to listings, marketing support, and property transaction facilitation. Both organisations emphasised that the renewed engagement aims to strengthen industry growth, promote transparency, and enhance consumer trust.
With the dispute now formally resolved, analysts believe the focus will shift back to leveraging technology and online platforms to support real estate transactions efficiently. The incident also serves as a precedent for how broker associations and digital real estate platforms can address conflicts constructively while maintaining the credibility of the sector.
