Initially, they weren’t considering moving south of the Bandra-Worli Sea Link, preferring to stay closer to their previous home. However, their perspective shifted when Shahid visited a luxury high-rise in Worli and was immediately drawn to it. When he took Mira—who was heavily pregnant at the time—to see the space, she had an instant connection with it.

Although it was outside their original budget, size expectations, and preferred location, the couple instinctively knew that this was the perfect home for them.

The couple turned to architect Annkur Khosla to help them design a space that would seamlessly blend Shahid’s contemporary, avant-garde taste with Mira’s preference for timeless, practical interiors.

• Shahid took charge of the upstairs entertainment spaces.

The rest of the home was designed through mutual discussion and compromise.

Mira describes her approach to design as thoughtful and functional, always considering factors such as durability, ease of cleaning, and long-term usability. Meanwhile, Shahid enjoys experimenting with bold and dramatic design elements.

The home is a blend of modern and organic elements, with textural contrasts, warm neutrals, and personalized decor pieces. Mira has incorporated design inspirations from her childhood home in Chattarpur, while also adding books from her father’s collection to create a sense of nostalgia and continuity.

Mira has a deep appreciation for tablescaping, the art of styling a dining table—and has collected pieces from Wedgwood, Chilewich, and various design stores in Copenhagen, Spain, Italy, and England. Surprisingly, the entire home was designed remotely via Zoom during the pandemic.

While the Kapoors were in Punjab, their contractor, Laxman Mistry, managed the execution of the project. The family would visit Mumbai once a month to check on progress, but much of the decision-making was handled virtually. Despite the challenges of remote coordination, the project was successfully completed over 14 months.

Three years after moving in, the family has fully settled into their home and embraced the community lifestyle. Their daughter, Misha, enjoys rock climbing, often practicing on the building’s climbing wall. Mira’s mother frequents the swimming pool, making full use of the residential amenities.
