Five Lakh Houses to Be Built for the Poor: CM Nayab Singh Saini’s Vision for Inclusive Development
Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini announced the construction of five lakh houses across urban and rural areas in the state. Addressing a gathering in Jind on the occasion of Maharishi Valmiki’s birth anniversary, the Chief Minister emphasized the government’s commitment to uplift marginalized communities through accessible housing and other welfare measures.
CM Saini highlighted that under the Mukhyamantri Shehri Awas Yojana, 15,250 poor families in 14 cities have already been allotted 30-square-yard plots. A comprehensive plan is underway to extend this benefit to other cities. This initiative underlines the state’s dedication to addressing urban housing shortages for economically weaker sections.
The Chief Minister also noted progress under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), where 15,000 houses are set to be handed over to beneficiaries. Additionally, financial assistance of ₹80,000 per household is being provided under the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Awas Navinikarn Yojana for home repairs. These schemes reflect the integrated approach taken by the government to ensure dignified living conditions for all.
On this special occasion, CM Saini announced ₹51 lakh for the construction of Maharishi Valmiki Bhawan in Narwana and pledged support for building a hostel in Hisar. These contributions aim to strengthen community infrastructure while honoring cultural and social values.
The Haryana government has introduced a nuanced approach to Scheduled Caste reservation. The 20% reservation quota for SCs in direct recruitment for government jobs has been divided equally between Deprived Scheduled Castes (DSCs) and Other Scheduled Castes (OSCs). This reclassification ensures fair representation and opportunities within marginalized groups. If candidates from one category are unavailable, positions will be filled by the other, ensuring efficient utilization of the reservation system.
CM Saini also outlined measures to alleviate hunger and improve living standards. The government is providing free foodgrain to 48 lakh Below Poverty Line (BPL) families and offering LPG connections to 13 lakh women under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana. BPL families can avail of gas cylinders at a subsidized rate of ₹500, significantly reducing household expenses.
The event saw the presence of senior ministers, MPs, MLAs, and prominent officials, reflecting the state’s united approach to governance and development. CM Saini reaffirmed his government’s resolve to address the needs of underprivileged communities and ensure their socio-economic upliftment.
