Dalmia Bharat Invests Rs 204 Crores To Add One Million Tons Cement Capacity in Tamil Nadu
Dalmia Bharat (DBL), a leading player in the Indian cement manufacturing industry, has installed a new cement mill at its existing cement manufacturing unit in Ariyalur, Tamil Nadu with an investment of Rs 204 crore. This new unit adds one million tons of cement capacity to the company's overall installed capacity, bringing it to a total of 45.6 million tons including its subsidiaries.
This new cement mill is part of Dalmia Bharat's broader goal to significantly boost its production capabilities. The company aims to increase its total installed capacity to between 110 and 130 million tons by 2031, reflecting its ambitious growth strategy.
Currently, Dalmia Bharat operates two integrated cement plants in Tamil Nadu—one in Dalmiapuram and another in Ariyalur—as well as a grinding unit in Sattur. The new development at Ariyalur is a brownfield expansion, meaning it builds on existing facilities to enhance production capabilities efficiently. This approach is cost-effective and less time-consuming compared to greenfield projects, which require building new facilities from scratch.
By increasing its production capacity, Dalmia Bharat aims to better serve the burgeoning construction and infrastructure projects in southern India. The region has seen a steady increase in infrastructure development, driven by both government initiatives and private investments. The enhanced capacity will enable Dalmia Bharat to meet this growing demand more effectively, ensuring a steady supply of high-quality cement for various construction needs.
This expansion also aligns with Dalmia Bharat's commitment to sustainability and innovation in the cement manufacturing process. The company has been at the forefront of adopting environmentally friendly practices and advanced technologies to reduce its carbon footprint and improve operational efficiency. The new mill at Ariyalur incorporates state-of-the-art technology designed to optimize energy consumption and minimize environmental impact.
Furthermore, this investment highlights Dalmia Bharat's dedication to regional development and economic progress. By enhancing its production capabilities in Tamil Nadu, the company not only strengthens its market presence but also contributes to local employment and economic growth. The expanded facility is expected to create additional jobs and stimulate economic activity in the region.
Dalmia Bharat's ₹204 crore investment in the Ariyalur cement mill is a strategic move that significantly boosts its production capacity. This expansion supports the company's long-term growth objectives, reinforces its market position in southern India, and aligns with its commitment to sustainability and regional development.
