Brigade Group Announces ₹1,500 Crore Investment in Kerala’s Commercial and Residential Projects
Bengaluru-based real estate firm Brigade Group has announced an investment of ₹1,500 crore in Kerala as part of its expansion strategy. The investment is expected to generate approximately 12,000 jobs over the next five years. The company made the announcement during the Invest Kerala Global Summit, where it submitted an Expression of Interest (EOI) in the presence of Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.
As part of the expansion, Brigade Group plans to establish its second World Trade Center (WTC) in Kerala, in addition to the existing WTC in Kochi. The company will also develop a new residential project in Kochi and a luxury island resort in Vaikom. These projects are expected to be completed by 2030. The Kerala government has committed to providing regulatory support and necessary approvals as per applicable laws.
In January 2025, Brigade Group had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Technopark in Thiruvananthapuram to develop a WTC and related infrastructure. This project involves constructing 1.5 million square feet of commercial space spread across multiple towers. Additionally, the company has expanded its presence in Kochi’s Infopark, where it has initiated the development of a third tower for the existing WTC, increasing its total IT infrastructure to over one million square feet.
The proposed luxury island resort at Vaikom is expected to enhance Kerala’s tourism sector by attracting both domestic and international visitors. The company’s new residential project in Kochi is aimed at meeting the growing demand for urban housing in the region. These developments align with Brigade’s broader strategy of strengthening its presence in Kerala across commercial, residential, and hospitality segments.
Brigade Group has been active in Kerala for several years, focusing on IT office spaces, hospitality, and residential projects. The company sees significant growth potential in these sectors, particularly in Kerala’s IT and tourism industries. Kerala has emerged as a strong market for IT/ITES businesses, with a well-established ecosystem supporting technology-driven enterprises. The state's tourism industry continues to attract investments, and the development of high-end hospitality infrastructure is expected to contribute to economic growth.
Commenting on the expansion, Vineet Verma, Managing Director of WTC Trades & Projects Pvt. Ltd., a Brigade Group subsidiary, stated that Kerala remains a key focus area for the company. He emphasized that the commercial, IT office space, hospitality, and residential sectors in the state have shown consistent growth in recent years. He also highlighted Kerala’s attractiveness as an IT and tourism hub, which continues to drive demand for real estate development.
Brigade Group’s decision to invest ₹1,500 crore in Kerala is expected to have a positive impact on the state’s economy by creating employment opportunities, improving infrastructure, and boosting the real estate market. The planned developments in Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi, and Vaikom indicate a strategic effort to expand in key urban and tourism-centric locations. The company’s ongoing and upcoming projects reflect its long-term commitment to Kerala’s real estate sector.
With these investments, Brigade Group aims to enhance Kerala’s commercial infrastructure, strengthen its housing market, and contribute to the state’s tourism potential. The support from the Kerala government is expected to facilitate smooth execution of these projects, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and timely implementation.
