This step is expected to enhance fairness and transparency in the examination process while reducing the risk of malpractice.
To support the tourism and hospitality sector, the Cabinet has approved the allocation of land to the Tourism Department for the expansion and upgradation of Vivanta Guwahati. The hospitality sector has witnessed significant growth in recent years, and this initiative is expected to further enhance Assam’s position as a travel destination.
The Cabinet has approved the establishment of Accredited Driver Training Centres with Automated Driver Testing Tracks to introduce a scientific and transparent testing process for issuing driving licenses. Five such centers are under construction in Dibrugarh, Nagaon, Biswanath, Barpeta, and Kamrup Rural, with operations expected to begin within the next five months. This reform aims to improve road safety by ensuring that drivers undergo a standardized evaluation process before obtaining their licenses.
The Cabinet has also announced that Lieutenant General Retired Rana Pratap Kalita will be awarded the Assam Baibhav, while Subramanian Ramadorai, former CEO and managing director of Tata Consultancy Services, will receive the Assam Saurav award. These recognitions highlight their contributions to society and their respective fields.
