Amitabh and Abhishek Bachchan’s real estate investments surpassed ₹100 crore in 2024
Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan, widely regarded as the Shehenshah of Bollywood, recently grabbed headlines after selling his luxury duplex apartment in Mumbai’s Andheri area for an astounding ₹83 crore. This deal earned him a profit of nearly 168%, as he had initially purchased the property for ₹31 crore in April 2021.
The transaction, which was officially registered in January 2025, highlights the strong appreciation of premium real estate in Mumbai. The property is situated in the upscale Atlantis building and spans an impressive 5,185 sq ft of RERA carpet area. For this transaction, Amitabh paid a stamp duty of ₹4.98 crore and a registration fee of ₹30,000.
The Bachchan family has always been known for their keen interest in real estate, and this recent sale is just the tip of the iceberg. Over the last year, Amitabh and his son Abhishek Bachchan have collectively invested in properties worth more than ₹100 crore, covering a massive area of 27,000 sq ft. These investments include a mix of residential and commercial properties, showcasing their strategic approach to leveraging the booming real estate market.
Here’s a quick overview of the Bachchan family’s real estate investments.
- The Atlantis Duplex, Andheri: Sold for ₹83 crore (bought for ₹31 crore in 2021).

- Total: ₹106 crore
In 2024, Amitabh alone invested over ₹76 crore in the Mumbai real estate market, while Abhishek added another ₹30 crore to their portfolio. One of Abhishek’s notable purchases was in June 2024, when he bought six apartments in the luxurious Oberoi Sky City project located in Borivali. These apartments, with a combined carpet area of 4,894 sq ft, were purchased for ₹15.42 crore, translating to a price of ₹31,498 per sq ft.
In October 2024, the father-son duo made headlines again by acquiring 10 apartments in the Oberoi Eternia project in Mumbai’s Mulund area. This deal was valued at ₹24.95 crore, adding to their already impressive real estate portfolio.
Investments Beyond Mumbai: Alibaug and Ayodhya
Beyond Mumbai, Amitabh has also invested in prime land parcels in sought-after locations. In April 2024, he bought a 10,000 sq ft plot in Alibaug for ₹10 crore from The House of Abhinandan Lodha (HoABL). Alibaug, often referred to as the Hamptons of India, is a popular getaway destination for celebrities and affluent individuals, making it a lucrative investment.
Earlier in January 2024, Amitabh made another significant purchase, acquiring a 10,000 sq ft plot in Ayodhya from the same developer for ₹14.5 crore. This land is part of "The Sarayu," a luxurious 7-star mixed-use enclave being developed in the temple town, which is rapidly transforming into a real estate hotspot.
These investments underline the Bachchans’ strategic approach to expanding their property portfolio across residential, commercial, and land segments. Whether it’s luxury apartments in Mumbai or sprawling plots in Alibaug and Ayodhya, the Bachchans continue to solidify their position as major players in India’s real estate market.
