Uttar Pradesh Nears Completion of 95% PMAY-Urban Housing Targets

Uttar Pradesh has made significant progress in the implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) – Urban. The Urban development minister AK Sharma announced that nearly 95% of the 17,76,823 sanctioned houses under the PMAY-U scheme have been completed, amounting to 16,71,083 houses. This reflects the state's commitment to fulfilling the vision of providing affordable housing to all by 2025.

Minister Sharma highlighted that the success of the initiative can be attributed to its transparency and commitment. He emphasized that a home is not just a structure but a place where individuals and families build their future. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the Uttar Pradesh government has made significant progress in promoting social equality by providing affordable housing options for all. This effort has helped transform the dreams of many marginalized communities into reality, empowering them to lead better lives.

The PMAY (Urban) scheme has not only improved living conditions but has also had a transformative impact on families. By reducing rental burdens, families have been able to save money, leading to better opportunities for their children's education and health. The scheme has thus played a pivotal role in fostering economic stability and helping people invest in their future.

Moreover, one of the standout features of the PMAY (Urban) scheme is its empowerment of women. A key provision of the program mandates that the female head of the family be the primary or co-owner of the house. This provision has provided women with a sense of security and encouraged them to explore livelihood opportunities, further contributing to their family's well-being.

The PMAY initiative faced initial challenges, particularly before the current government came to power in 2017. However, the state's government has since focused its efforts on overcoming these hurdles. With strong commitment and leadership, Uttar Pradesh has managed to implement the scheme efficiently, making notable progress toward achieving the goal of universal housing.

Minister Sharma also assured that the government is focused on completing the remaining 5% of the project. As the state moves forward, it is evident that the PMAY (Urban) program is playing a crucial role in changing the lives of many people, particularly those from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.
