Amit Gupta, Managing Director of Orris Infrastructure, was booked by Mumbai Police for the offences of forgery, cheating, criminal breach of trust and conspiracy. The crimes were related to a dispute between Godrej Properties and a project in Gurgaon. Buyers of Orris' stalled project, Greenopolis at Sector 89 though are worried but the case in Mumbai is distinct from the one at Greenopolis.
Dispute around Godrej Air Project
Godrej Air, a project located in Gurgaon, is the subject of the Mumbai case. The two partners in the project were Godrej Developers & Properties LLP and Orris. Godrej Properties cried foul by stating that the changes to the statutory records of the LLP submitted with the Registrar of Companies were done without their knowledge and that fake documents were used in the submissions, based on the complaint.
The complaint mentions a Form-3, which was allegedly submitted to the Registrar of Companies on January 14, 2026. Godrej has made a serious charge that the partner nominated by them was deleted from the records without their permission and a different person was indicated as a partner. Besides, it has raised objections to the supposed 37.5% transfer of its LLP interest.
In the FIR, the complainant cited various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita relating to forgery, cheating, criminal breach of trust, use of forged documents and criminal conspiracy. The allegations are still under investigation, and no court has ruled on them. Gupta was remanded to police custody until August 27.
Greenopolis Buyers Face Renewed Uncertainty
Greenopolis buyers are in even more doubt after Gupta's arrest, even though the FIR does not contain any allegations in the name of Greenopolis. Sector 89 project homebuyers of Greenopolis (about 1,650) are worried about the project which has been delayed for a long time. In fact, most of the buyers have paid a big part of the cost and are still waiting for the possession and continuing to give their financial dues.
Besides, buyers are also wondering about the situation of allotments and transactions of the finished stock including the issue of third-party interests. Actually, they have asked the authorities to separate their works to protect bona fide buyers and also to stop the creation of third-party rights until the claims of the parties are disentangled.
Previous development Come in light
This newer move can be seen in the background of the probe done against Orris Infrastructure and its directors. The Enforcement Directorate had conducted a probe against Orris Infrastructure and its directors in a case of large-scale real estate fraud. Also, at Kherki Daula police station, a separate FIR was registered in July using a land collaboration dispute. These allegations are currently under investigation. The arrest so shines a new light on the developer's unresolved issues, at the same time Greenopolis buyers are still in the dark about their homes' prospects.
