Mahindra Logistics has expanded its operations in Eastern India by inaugurating two state-of-the-art Grade A warehouses in Guwahati and Agartala, adding over four lakh square feet of new space. This move marks a significant step in the company’s regional growth strategy, strengthening its logistics footprint in the North-East and supporting its long-term “Go-East” initiative.

The Guwahati facility has become the largest multi-client warehouse in North-East India, offering advanced infrastructure for large-scale distribution and storage operations. The Agartala facility, meanwhile, has been strategically developed to meet the growing demand for integrated logistics solutions in Tripura and neighboring states. Together, these two facilities are expected to play a critical role in addressing supply chain challenges in the region, particularly for sectors that depend on efficient last-mile delivery and warehousing connectivity.

Through this expansion, Mahindra Logistics has now developed more than one million square feet of multi-client warehousing capacity across the North-East. The company plans to extend its express logistics network to cover over 800 pincodes, improving delivery timelines and operational efficiency. The new facilities are designed to provide a wide range of services, including warehousing, distribution, fulfillment, sortation, and delivery, making them capable of handling the diverse needs of industries such as e-commerce, fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG), pharmaceuticals, automotive, retail, and grocery.

The company’s expansion in the North-East aligns with India’s growing focus on regional connectivity and supply chain resilience. The strategic location of these warehouses allows Mahindra Logistics to leverage emerging infrastructure corridors such as the Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor, Bharatmala highways, Maitri Setu bridge, and the Agartala–Akhaura rail link. Together, these developments are expected to enhance trade flows between the North-East and other parts of India, as well as with neighboring countries like Bangladesh.

Mahindra Logistics aims to make these facilities models of operational efficiency and sustainability. The company has been steadily adopting green warehousing practices, including energy-efficient lighting, optimized material handling, and digital monitoring systems. Such measures are intended to reduce carbon footprint while ensuring smooth logistics operations across various segments.

Beyond business growth, the company’s latest move is expected to have a positive socio-economic impact. The two new warehouses are projected to create over 2,000 employment opportunities in the region. Mahindra Logistics has also committed to ensuring that at least 50 percent of its workforce in these facilities comprises local employees. This approach supports skill development and contributes to the economic empowerment of local communities in Assam and Tripura.

The expansion reflects the increasing importance of the North-East in India’s logistics and manufacturing ecosystem. As consumption and e-commerce penetration rise in the region, the need for reliable, scalable, and technology-driven logistics infrastructure has grown sharply. Mahindra Logistics’ entry with large multi-client Grade A facilities provides a framework for organized supply chain management in an area that has traditionally faced logistical bottlenecks.

In addition to serving regional industries, these warehouses will enable national and international companies to establish a more efficient distribution base in the North-East. By integrating warehousing, transportation, and express delivery under one network, Mahindra Logistics aims to offer end-to-end solutions that can support both bulk and last-mile requirements.

The “Go-East” strategy is part of the company’s broader effort to balance its logistics presence across India and tap into emerging regional markets. Over the past few years, Mahindra Logistics has been actively investing in expanding its multi-client warehousing portfolio across key logistics hubs, ensuring flexibility and scalability for customers in fast-growing sectors.

With the completion of the Guwahati and Agartala facilities, Mahindra Logistics has reinforced its position as a leading provider of integrated logistics solutions. The move also underscores the evolving nature of India’s logistics sector, where organized, technology-driven networks are gradually replacing fragmented models.

As government initiatives continue to improve infrastructure and connectivity in the North-East, the company’s latest expansion is well-timed to capture future growth opportunities. It strengthens Mahindra Logistics’ role in supporting regional development while providing businesses with efficient access to a region that is increasingly becoming a key node in India’s trade and supply chain landscape.
