Bengaluru, June 26th, 2026: Hosachiguru, a sustainable farmland management and agroforestry company, alongside Bluedot Foundation, has partnered with the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) in a landmark afforestation initiative that aims to set a Guinness World Record for the maximum number of saplings planted in a single day.
Scheduled for June 27, 2026, the large-scale plantation drive will be conducted across multiple locations in Bengaluru, covering 250 acres and targeting the planting of 1.5 million saplings between 7:00 AM and 7:00 PM. Spearheaded by the Bangalore Development Authority, the initiative brings together environmental organisations, corporate partners, volunteers and citizens in a collective effort to strengthen Bengaluru's green cover and create a lasting environmental legacy for the city. Hosachiguru and Bluedot Foundation will contribute to the initiative by planting approximately 1.5 lakh saplings across 25 acres in Ramagondanahalli, near Avalahalli.
As a partner in the initiative, Hosachiguru will contribute to on-ground plantation efforts while mobilising volunteers to participate in what is expected to be one of Bengaluru's largest community-led environmental movements. With over 1 million trees already planted across its farms and deep expertise in developing regenerative farming ecosystems and rehabilitating land through agroforestry, the company will support efforts aimed at creating long-term ecological impact beyond the plantation event itself.
The initiative aims to bring together more than 5,000 volunteers from across the city, including students, corporates, resident welfare associations, environmental groups and community organisations. Participants will play a direct role in the record attempt while contributing to the creation of a greener and more climate-resilient Bengaluru.
The plantation drive will focus exclusively on native tree species that are well-suited to the local ecosystem and contribute to strengthening biodiversity. To ensure healthy growth and long-term ecological impact, Hosachiguru and Bluedot Foundation will oversee the maintenance and care of the saplings for the next three years.
Commenting on the initiative, Srinath Setty, Founder & CEO, Hosachiguru, said,
"Bengaluru's growth story must be accompanied by an equally ambitious commitment to restoring and expanding its green cover. This initiative is not only about setting a world record but creating a lasting environmental asset for the city. Every sapling planted represents a small but meaningful step towards building a greener, healthier and more resilient Bengaluru. We hope citizens from across the city come together to be part of this historic effort and contribute towards shaping a better environmental future."
Beyond the record attempt, the plantation drive is expected to generate long-term environmental benefits through increased green cover, improved biodiversity, enhanced carbon sequestration and the restoration of local ecosystems. The initiative also reflects the growing role of public-private-community partnerships in addressing environmental challenges and creating measurable impact at scale.
Volunteers participating in the drive will receive an official certificate of participation from the Bangalore Development Authority in recognition of their contribution to this landmark initiative.
