Macrotech Developers Renamed as Lodha Developers Following Trademark Dispute Resolution
Macrotech Developers Ltd has officially changed its name to Lodha Developers Ltd, following the receipt of approval from the Registrar of Companies. The change, effective June 16, 2025, was communicated through a regulatory filing by the company.
The name change follows the resolution of a long-standing trademark dispute between Abhishek Lodha, CEO of the listed entity formerly known as Macrotech Developers, and his younger brother, Abhinandan Lodha, who operates a separate real estate business under the brand ‘House of Abhinandan Lodha’.
According to the filing made under Regulation 30 of the SEBI Listing Regulations, the company stated that the Ministry of Corporate Affairs has approved the renaming process. The development was formally conveyed to the exchanges on June 16, confirming that Macrotech Developers Ltd will now operate under the identity of Lodha Developers Ltd.
The change comes two months after both brothers settled their brand-related differences through mediation. The trademark dispute was resolved on April 14, 2025. As part of the resolution, it was agreed that the listed entity would have exclusive rights to use the brand names ‘Lodha’ and ‘Lodha Group’, while Abhinandan Lodha would retain rights to use the ‘House of Abhinandan Lodha’ brand.
Both sides also agreed that their respective businesses would remain independent and unrelated, and that this distinction would be clearly communicated to the public to avoid any market confusion.
The dispute had reached the Bombay High Court in January 2025, when Abhishek Lodha sought legal relief to restrain the use of the Lodha name by the unlisted venture run by his brother. The court appointed retired Supreme Court judge R V Raveendran as mediator to oversee discussions and arrive at a solution.
Following the amicable settlement, Abhinandan Lodha rebranded the holding entity of his real estate businesses as Abhinandan Ventures. This rebranding marked a formal separation of business identities between the two Lodha-led firms.
The name change for Macrotech Developers marks the return of the group’s publicly listed entity to the ‘Lodha Developers’ identity, a name long associated with the company’s flagship residential and commercial developments across Mumbai, Pune, and other cities. The company had rebranded to Macrotech Developers in 2021, during its initial public offering.
The renaming is expected to further reinforce brand clarity in the real estate market, especially following the rapid expansion of both firms into new cities and housing formats. Lodha Developers Ltd, under Abhishek Lodha, continues to be one of India’s largest real estate developers by sales.
Meanwhile, Abhinandan Lodha’s firm continues to operate under the ‘House of Abhinandan Lodha’ label, focusing on land investment platforms and plotted developments across Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities. The company has recently announced new launches in Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh.
Both firms have reiterated their commitment to avoid overlap in branding and business operations. The regulatory filing and public communication serve to cement the clear separation of brand identity and ensure transparency for investors, buyers, and partners in the real estate ecosystem.
