Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated and laid foundation stones for 37 public welfare projects worth ₹651 crores in Ahmedabad. The event, held on Thursday, was attended by Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Cabinet Minister Rushikesh Patel, and Minister of State Jagdish Vishwakarma, alongside other dignitaries and citizens.

Among the projects, 10 initiatives costing ₹95 crores were inaugurated, while 27 projects worth ₹556 crores had their foundation stones laid. These developments span across Ahmedabad East, Ahmedabad West, and Gandhinagar constituencies and aim to accelerate urban development, enhance infrastructure, and improve the quality of life for citizens.

Honoring Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose and Commitment to Progress

The ceremony coincided with the birth anniversary of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, and Amit Shah paid tribute to the freedom fighter by recalling his iconic slogans, "Chalo Dilli" and "Tum Mujhe Khoon Do, Main Tumhe Azadi Dunga." Shah lauded Netaji’s contributions to India’s independence movement and connected his legacy to the ongoing development and welfare initiatives.

In his address, Shah expressed gratitude to the people of Ranip for electing him as their representative multiple times, stating that serving the area is his duty. He highlighted various projects aimed at transforming the region, including drainage system upgrades for over 350 societies, development of the Chandrabhaga Canal to resolve water issues, and plans to convert a mosquito-breeding area into an amusement park for children.

Shah emphasized the progress made under his tenure, noting that challenges like salty water supply in 1996-97 have been resolved through the provision of Narmada water from Gandhinagar to Vejalpur. He also urged citizens to adopt sustainable practices such as installing percolation wells for water conservation and solar rooftops for energy efficiency.

Development Projects and Vision for Ahmedabad

The Union Home Minister inaugurated key infrastructure projects, including the D-Cabin LC 241 underpass and the Chenpur LC2 underpass, both constructed collaboratively by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) and the Railways. He also laid foundation stones for the percolating wells in Ranip ward and the RCC box drain construction project stretching from Prabodh Raval Bridge to Kali Garnala.

Additionally, projects related to roads, drainage, water supply, bridges, housing, vegetable markets, lakes, and labor welfare centers were launched. Under the slum rehabilitation policy, 83 housing units and 12 shops were allocated to beneficiaries through a symbolic key distribution. These developments aim to connect areas like Ranip, New Ranip, and Chenpur, fostering seamless urban growth and improving living standards.

During the event, AMC introduced cloth bags to promote sustainability and reduce plastic use, while symbolic milk distribution under the Doodh Sanjeevani Yojana ensured that children in Anganwadis and schools receive nutritious meals. Shah also encouraged citizens to support Anganwadis and participate in tackling malnutrition.

Future-Ready Urban Development in Gujarat

Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel highlighted the state’s commitment to well-planned urbanization and futuristic city development under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He noted that Gujarat has allocated ₹21,696 crores for urban development, prioritizing infrastructure, citizen welfare, and cleanliness initiatives. Patel emphasized that these efforts aim to preserve Ahmedabad’s heritage while transforming it into a modern urban hub.

The CM underlined initiatives like the 'Green Swachh Society League,' launched by AMC to instill cleanliness habits among citizens, and reiterated the state’s focus on aligning with the national vision of Viksit Bharat. Patel praised Amit Shah’s contributions to the Gandhinagar constituency through various developmental efforts in transportation, water supply, healthcare, and sports.

The event concluded with citizens and dignitaries applauding the progress and initiatives that mark a significant step in Ahmedabad’s journey toward becoming a world-class, sustainable city. The projects reflect the government’s dedication to improving ease of living, fostering heritage preservation, and ensuring a brighter future for all.
