Actor Ronit Roy Buys apartment worth Rs 18.94 crore in Mumbai’s Versova

Indian actor Ronit Roy has made headlines with his recent purchase of a sea-view luxury apartment in Versova, a prominent locality in Mumbai's western suburb of Andheri. The actor, known for his versatile roles in both television and film, has acquired the high-end property for nearly Rs 18.94 crore. The apartment, situated on the 20th floor, offers expansive views and covers a sprawling 4,259 sq ft. It was bought from the well-known realty developer Macrotech Developers.

This significant real estate transaction also includes exclusive access to four car parking slots within the tower, underscoring the luxury and convenience offered by the property. The deal involved a substantial stamp duty payment of approximately Rs 1.14 crore, highlighting the high value of the transaction. Documents related to the purchase were accessed through the property registration platform IndexTap.com.

The apartment is part of an under-construction project featuring a ground plus 29-storey structure, which is scheduled for completion and delivery by December 2026. Despite efforts to reach out for comments, responses from both Macrotech Developers and Ronit Roy were unavailable at the time of reporting.

The purchase by Ronit Roy is a testament to the enduring appeal of real estate investments among high net-worth individuals, particularly Bollywood celebrities. Real estate is not only seen as a symbol of status and luxury but also as a lucrative investment opportunity. Celebrities often invest in prime properties for personal use and as a means to diversify and enhance their wealth portfolios.

Prominent Bollywood personalities like Amitabh Bachchan, Shahrukh Khan, Shilpa Shetty, Akshay Kumar, Abhishek Bachchan, and Aishwarya Rai have also been actively involved in real estate investments, reflecting a broader trend among the elite in the entertainment industry.

The Indian residential real estate market has shown remarkable resilience and growth, hitting an 11-year sales high in the first half of 2024. This surge is attributed to stable economic conditions and strong market confidence, despite higher mortgage rates. Mumbai, the largest and most expensive property market in India, has been at the forefront of this upward trend. The city has consistently broken records, with over 10,000 property registrations each month in the first half of 2024. Additionally, Mumbai has seen year-on-year growth in registrations for 11 consecutive months since August 2023.

The robust demand for residential properties in Mumbai, coupled with the consistent investment from high-profile individuals, underscores the city's position as a prime real estate market. The continued interest from Bollywood celebrities like Ronit Roy highlights the attractiveness of real estate as a solid and rewarding investment.
